TeenHelp - What is an addictive behaviour?

I thought I'd clear some things up with a sticky.

What is an addictive behaviour?
The subheading under the forum says 'This forum is for questions about addictions not related to substance use, such as gambling, Internet, sex or work addictions.' So any questions about any addictive behaviour not to do with alcohol and drugs can go in this forum.

Some people say that you can't be addicted to things like sex or shopping or food. Just because the item or activity doesn't create a physical dependence does not mean that the behaviour isn't addictive. For example, one person could gamble a couple of times and then walk away with his/her winnings. Another could gamble regularly, lose everything he/she had, gamble away his/her winnings and feel out of control and unable to stop. The second person may not be 'addicted' in the same way as someone who is addicted to drugs, but it is still an addictive behaviour.

So can I post about.... in this forum?
If you feel as if you have an addiction to something, then please feel free to post here. Just because you can't be physically dependent on something does not mean that you can't feel psychologically dependent on something, or that you can easily stop what you are doing.

This was for anyone who doesn't consider certain things worthy of being placed in this forum because they aren't actually addictive. If a mod feels something is out of place they will move it. If you are worried about things being in the wrong forum, please PM the mod of that forum
