Re: internet? -

I think you really have to try to pull yourself away from the computer, as hard as it is, try to hang out with people even though it's something you'd rather not do.
I know what you are going through because I have a similar problem, though I'm not online until 3:00 in the morning, I am online until about 11:00ish. What really helped me was when I got in trouble for spending so much time on the internet. It sounds stupid, but being banned from the internet for everything that was non-school related for a couple of months and having my computer passworded with a password I didn't know did help me out with learning to put homework first and what I want to do second. I now usually have my hw done by 7:00 or 8:00 and then I can do whatever for the next couple of hours because I have done all that needs doing. It probably sounds like a dumb idea, but have your parents put a password on your computer and then have them not let you on the computer unless you need it for a project or have all of your homework done. Then, set a time when you want to go to bed and then turn off the computer at that time, you won't be able to get it back on sense they are the only ones with the password. I know it's a frustrating and annoying process, but trust me, it really does help as long as those involved agree with it and are all for you not being online so much. "When my life is like a storm

Hey there,
I agree with the above poster: the best thing for you to do would be to limit your computer time, with the help of your parents. Perhaps if your parents turned off the router after a certain time so that you couldn't access the internet, that might help? Also, passwording the computer so that you can't access it without permission sounds like a good idea. If all of that sounds too drastic, then perhaps try to do non-internet related things before you go on the computer. For example, when you get home go straight into a different room which doesn't have the computer in it and get your homework done. That way, you won't be distracted by seeing the computer and being able to log on and go on the internet. Routines are good as well. Try to stick to a routine which gives you allocated slots for homework and socialising, and has a dedicated internet slot where you can go on the internet. If you can stick to a routine then you might be able to cut down on your internet usage. I hope this helped. |
