Boyfriend Abuse - June 8th 2017, 01:52 AM

Hello,

I hope every day is an abuse free day!

This NEEDS to be talked about more. A LOT MORE. 'Boyfriend abuse' is a contributing factor to why far more boys than girls commit suicide. FOUR TIMES MORE! It is not a joke. And it must STOP!

Boys deserve to be treated respectfully.

GREAT BIG HUG
Craig!

Thank you for sharing this, Craig.

I've moved this thread to Rape and Abuse because I feel it fits better here.

Re: Boyfriend Abuse - June 9th 2017, 12:28 PM

Interesting article!

I have been guilty of accusing an ex they were cheating on me, and my ex was guilty of emotionally manipulating me. That said, while the behaviour is definitely abusive and no-one should tolerate that, the person who is being abusive probably needs help, if they don't realise it. I know now that I had low self-esteem and was very insecure from all sorts of things I had been through in the past. I honestly didn't think that anyone could like me, which only lead to suspiciousness and jealousy. It wasn't nice for my ex, and it wasn't nice for me either.

Overall, I think more needs to be done for both parties- more awareness of abusive behaviours and getting out of the relationship, as well as help for those whose behaviour is considered abusive.

I think raising awareness on abuse and respect goes for everyone, not just those in an intimate relationship. Friends, family, co-workers, acquaintances... everyone. I have been guilty of being verbally/emotionally abusive to friends and family members, and they have been verbally/emotionally abusive to me as well. It's so important to identify what is a healthy relationship and what isn't. It's important to recognize the signs when there is something wrong, something seems to be off, trust your guts if that is the case.
