Pain and PTSD? - July 29th 2017, 06:52 AM

So I was molested when I was five years old. Anyways I have been diagnoses with PTSD but the thing is I do not remember anything, I do not get flashbacks. But I do have it.

Anyways I was wondering if something I am experiencing is part of my PTSD. Sometimes for no reason my clit or area around it will have a tingling, pain like sensation(it is different from when I am aroused) and it last anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. Looking back I have always experienced this since I was like 8 and I was molested around 5-7 years old that I got told. Is this part of PTSD?

Everyone's symptoms are different so it is hard to say for sure but it sounds like a body memory. The idea behind a body memory is that the cells in the body hold memories of their own and when you experience pain like that, it is a body flashback as opposed to a visual one you may have.

The pain of the flashback feels very real and it is real, but there isn't a physical cause of the pain in the body other than the memory. However, if you are having doubts you can see a gynecologist to talk about it.

There are different ways to cope with body memories, depending on where in the body they are. What do you usually do when you're in pain? You could try walking around, for instance, to see if they go away.

Here is an article on one if you're interested in looking at different ways to cope.

.
I honestly don't know if pain is the right word to describe it. I mean sometimes it is a sharp pain, but other times it is like a tingly needle type of thing. But I usually don't do anything...I mean I don't know what to do to ease the pain. I will give that article a look. I will probably also do a google search to see if I can find anything on exactly what I feel or see if others feel something similar.

Body memories don't always have to be painful. Sometimes they are just body sensations without the pain. Some people feel like they are reliving with or without pain while others feel both. You may just be having the memories without experiencing any pain.

I can't offer any advice, but I believe I have experienced that feeling before. I remembered something about my own abuse ages ago, and it just felt like I was sort of experiencing the physical feelings again (but not necessarily pain)? I'm not sure how to describe it. But I would guess that it's a body memory and others may experience similar things too.
