Police Interview..I am so scared! - October 23rd 2009, 04:30 PM

Hey.. I have a police interview on Monday about the man who tried to rape me.

I am so scared.. dont know what to do. I want to drop out but it's too late the situation is out of my hands and I have to speak.

I have been to an interview before but that was for my friend.. Now this time it's for me and I feel like curling up in a ball and crying.

I DONT WANT TO DO IT!! It was a big enough step speaking out about it before.. now I have to say it all over again and I hate it. When it controls your thoughts constantly and all you want is to forget about it.

What should I do?

You can tell them that you really dont know how to talk about it and it is hard and they will understand but it isnt your fault and you could put him away for what he did to you

I know how you feel but it will be all over soon

PM if you need to talk

Hey there,
I expect at the interview they'll be very patient and considerate, so although it's natural to be scared, the people who want to see you will treat you well. You can drop out if you really really want to, but bear in mind that they only want to see you so they can help you, and stop this sort of thing from happening again. I can't say it won't be difficult, but a kind and patient listener can be an advantage in the long-run. Good luck and stay strong; it'll most likely be worth going

Hey,

You have come a long way indeed! Congratulations, it's a big thing to do and you managed to do it.
Think of this interview as the last step towards this guy getting caught for it. This is the last step you will have to take till the rest of your life.
I know it will be nerve-wracking but just say what you have to say.
Practice what you're going to say and explain to the police if you're finding it hard, they're bound to understand and they may give you a bit of a breather before they continue interviewing you.
Well done and I know you can get through this.

Don't worry. The police are so understanding and easy to talk to. They won't try to push you to hard. They will ask for explicit details...which sucks. And it's hard to say out loud. I did the same thing last year. Only I did it with one police officer, the teacher who I talked to, and the dean of my school. I remember how scary it is to talk about. Just keep telling yourself that you did the right thing by telling and that you will be okay.

Thanks everyone.. it is in half an hour and I am so scared now!

Thanks for all your support and advice I do feel a little more confident about it. I just hate speaking about it. But atleast I know they'll be understanding.

UPDATE!!!

I have been. It went better than expected. They asked me loads of questions I was there for like an hour and a half!

From here though it's still not over.

He will be arrested. That's when they find out who he is.
He will be interviewed, My friend will be interviewed aswell.
If there is enough evidence from all this it'll go to court and I wont never go to court!!! I'd much rather die ! :]

But so far things are going well!

Hey! Glad to hear it went good! Remember, when you go to these things, you are the victim, not the criminal. You have done nothing wrong.
Also the Police have dealt with many cases of this and all people i bet will have felt the same way you did and the Police will try not to make you uncomfortable in any way. They understand!
Good on you for telling them though, lots of times, this sort of thing goes unsaid, and then it is on peoples backs for years. Congrats for getting help! I bet a big weight has been lifted off your chest now
