I found this on a blog about sex and relationships a while back and I think it must be the most powerful poem about abuse and domestic violence I have ever heard. There's so much emotion in this that I cried the first time I saw it. "Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?" ~ Ernest Gaines

Hey-
I can't believe you found an Andrea Gibson poem! She lives in Boulder, like twenty minutes from my house, and I've done workshops with her and all this kind of thing. She's absolutely amazing, and it's breathtaking to watch her preform. If you ever have the opportunity take it. She signed my lanyard for my keys one time, and now I have them up on my wall I'm so happy with it, I adore her! I cried when she did this poem at the college by me. It's so powerful, as are most of her poetry. If you ever need anyone to talk to, let me know. I'm always around! ^_^ Maria. She's amazing. This poem made me cry the first time I heard it as well, I have the recording, and I listen to it often. She is spectacular.

The first time I heard this I seriously was blown away! It was incredible. I had to listen to this 2 times in order to feel the whole thing. It was beautiful.
