Exclamation Freaked out - June 19th 2012, 09:22 PM

Ok..so for the last past few months Ive been seeing shadows and hearing things that no one else sees or hears. At first I ignored it, but now I'm seeing things more frequently and hearing things too. It happens a lot and it's freaking me out...I don't know what causes hallucinations, I haven't changed my diet, I'm not under or over weight, I'm athletic and I drink plenty of water. It happens most at night...do you know what it could be or what could cause it? Anything helps!! Thanks!

I don't have an aswer for you, it could be stress related, or related to tiredness, but it is best to talk to your doctor as halucinations are nothing to brush away. It could be any number of things which have no relation to mental health, but at the same time, it could be to do with your mental health so it is best to get it checked out.

If it happens at night then its probably because its night time when you cant see things as well and things just seem scarier. I have heard stuff tooo its just brain playing tricks on you.

I thought that too but then it started in the daytime too...maybe I'm just paranoid but it happens randomly...even at my friends house or at the mall, sometimes I even jump back because I think someone/something is there. But you could be right, I hope your right.

I experience something similar to this. For me, it generally happens when I'm already in a state of heightened anxiety. I get laughed at loads because I'll jump a mile at a small sounds that wasn't there/nobody else noticed or a non-existent shape/shadow. I would suggest seeing your doctor since it's bothering you, as they should be able to help firgure it out.

Hey there,

First of all, we're not professionals and so I cannot tell you what, if anything, you are suffering with or what this is a result of. The main thing I'd suggest you do is consult some sort of professional. What you're experiencing is clearly unpleasant for you, so don't do it on your own. If it's causing you concern, talk to someone. What you have explained seems to be cause for that anyway, and I hope you manage to talk to a doctor or someone to get you some help.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I hope you know that if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm only a PM away. I hope you manage to get some support with this, remember it's fine to ask for some, professionals are there to help you deal with things like this and it's totally fine to talk to them.

Good luck,
Hollie.

Hey Ash,

As Hollie has said, we are not professionals so therefore we are unable to give you any diagnosis'. I'd suggest making an appointment with your GP regarding this and talk to them about what you've been experiencing. They may then refer you onto appropriate services who will be able to help you further.

Remember, there are people out there who can help. You don't have to deal with this all on your own.

Take care,
Lex
