Thinking of going to treatment center - June 22nd 2012, 11:00 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering by the original poster or by a Moderator. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I've been to a one-week mental hospital and I think I need a longer treatment. Most treatment centers I think go for 3 months. I've been cutting, and battling with anorexia for 2 years. (cutting longer than the eating disorder) I don't know how I could though, but i think I need it. Okay, I know I need it. My therapy sessions arent enough and I dont know what to do. But my parents dont have money and if I'm in treatment for three months, school will be about a month in by the time I get back. And I'm not about to miss the beginning of freshman year, or worse, repeat it. I don't know what to do.

I would bring all of this up with your parents and therapist during your next session. Some treatment centers can slide their fees a bit in order to accommodate clients. Your insurance company may be able to cover certain expenses as well. You may be able to attend a program for 2 months vs. the full 3 months. Finally, some treatment centers offer continuing education, meaning that you could keep doing your school work while staying at the treatment center. You may be able to find an outpatient treatment center, too, so you could spend a few hours there each day but go to school in the morning and go to sleep at home. Basically, I wouldn't rule out the idea just yet, even though these are two significant problems you're facing. Talk about it and see if a solution can be reached. =)
