Teen Counselling. - July 29th 2012, 05:50 PM

Has anyone here ever gone to teen counselling?
My Mam is going to send me because I've been feeling down and a load of stuff.

What's it like? Can anyone tell me their experience of their first time?

Some Riot - Elbow

A friend of mine grows his very own brambles
They twist all around him 'til he can't move
Beautiful, quivering, chivalrous shambles
What is my friend trying to prove?

...I think when he's drinking he's drowning some riot
What is my friend trying to hide?

...And it's breaking my heart to pour like the rain
Brother of mine, don't run with those fuckers
When will my friend start singing again?
When will my friend start singing again?

I have been to counseling and I still go. I would guess it will be like any other counseling and just involve trying to figure out why you feel down and how to try and fix it. Every counselor approaches things differently but they all ask questions about feelings, school, home, and things to help figure out your problem. It is a good thing and just remember it is ok to be nervous and they can usually tell. Just be prepared to talk.. I hope that helped some. If you have any questions just PM me.

feel free to PM me...

Hi there.

I was in teen counselling (CAMHS - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) from about the age of 14/15 until after I turned 18. It can be difficult. In fact at times it will be really hard. You're going to talk through things which might be painful and have to discuss emotions which are unpleasant. My best piece of advice to you is to be honest. Tell them the truth and let them into help you. They're on your side; they're not against you. The more you tell them and the more you let them in, the more they will be able to help you in a way which you will benefit from.

If you have any more questions or just want to talk, feel free to reply back.

I hope you're well,
Jessie :-)
