Hi there.

If your doctor/psychiatrist has put you on this medication to help slow down you thoughts, then that's what I think you have been put on it for. If you are confused to why you have been put on it, I advise you talk to the person who prescribed you the drug.

Yes, Olanzapine is used to help people with an illness such as psychosis. I was on this medication for a few months for hallucinations but I was taken of it as it didn't seem to help. Its important for you to remember that different medications affect everyone differently.

Jessie.

Hi again.

If you have told them you hear voices, it could well be to try and help calm them down too. Like I said, it's best to ask who it is that has prescribed you the medication. How long have you been taking them for?

Jessie

Hi again

I think its good you're giving it a try. However, it can take up to several weeks for it to work and even then you might need a higher dose. Keep updating the mental health professionals you're working with so that if in the long run, you need a higher dose this may be an option. If you tell them it works when it isn't working, they won't think about increasing the dose. Where if you're honest and if it still isn't working in a few weeks, they may agree to up the dose.

I hope this makes sense.
Jessie
