Smile hypomanic? - December 21st 2015, 04:03 PM

I think I might be hypomanic somewhat. People are really worried with how happy Iím being.

How do you recognise when you are being manic and what to do if you can only see your therapist a month later? (Because sheís on vacation and full.)

My symptoms are:
Spending a lot of money.
Only wanting to do fun things.
Wanting to make a corset (while I canít sew yet) and maybe even making money for it.
Underestemating homework and the like.
Being really happy and excited about everything
Dressing a lot more nice than usual. (Today someone asked me if me and my friend had a party to go to because we looked so nice)
And my usual lack of attention.

Well coming from a Bipolar 1 patient, what your describing sounds like hypomania, but who's really certified to claim that is your therapist I dont know enough about you to make any classifications, since what your describing could possibly be your normal behavior, and you haven't noticed. Heres a link on describing mania ----> http://psychcentral.com/disorders/manic-episode/
Mania can also be episodes of severe anger and irritability.
PM/VM me if you have any more questions

Hello Caitlin.

I don't have much experience regarding hypomania, but i do think that there are some things you could do. I think you could keep a journal and a diary and write your feelings out, and it'll also help you keep track of how much you're spending, and what you're spending on. This is because when you spend a lot, sometimes you might a lot of stuffs and it's hard to keep track of how much you already bought. Also, it might also be time to start saving up your money for the future because it'll also be helpful for yourself.

I also think that it might be time for a slight change of mindset. Its extremely good to be happy, but it might be good to think a bit more about homework as it'll help you in your exams later, and also assist you in the future as it'll develop a balanced ratio of work and play. Being able to adapt to more situations where you're going to be working will also be helpful in the future . But most of all, just believe in yourself and you can adapt to anything.

I hope that i helped. Sorry that i'm not really that experienced regarding this topic.. but if you wanna rant to someone or just need a friend, i'll be around!

It's called a tunnel because there's ALWAYS a light at the end.

rant to me if there's anything!

As usual... pm me if you are ever having a tough day, and I'll respond immediately.

You guys deserve to be happy no matter what.. okay? You people are a bunch of lovelies ... and no matter what, you people deserve to be happy.
