Therapy apps??? - June 13th 2017, 12:51 AM

Does anyone know any therapy apps that don't cost money??? I'm currently really depressed and need to talk to someone professional. I'm not ready to tell my parents yet though so please don't say ask your parents. Thanks!

Hey there,

Sorry to hear that you are feeling really depressed. It's great that you have realised that you could do with some support though!

Though there are many apps and websites that aim to help you deal with mental health issues, they are often either self-help or peer support related meaning you don't get to talk to a professional (though feel free to check out our list of resources for mental health for more support). You may want to contact Befrienders as they are trained volunteers who will listen to you and offer emotional support. You could also check out organisations and charities in your area that may provide free or low cost counselling as an alternative. If you are in school, you could try talking to a teacher or school counsellor. Or if it's an option, visiting your doctor for a referral for support and/or medication.

I understand that you don't feel ready to tell your parents, but it sounds like you could really do with support, which may be easier to access if your parents are able to help as well. Perhaps there is someone else that you trust that you could open up to first, and then try talking to your parents, or even writing a note?
