Counseling? - December 12th 2017, 06:06 PM

I really think it would benefit me to go back into counseling, or at the very least, a support group. I planned on making an appointment with my college's mental health counselors, but I just called and they said they're closed until January.

Now I'm kind of freaking out, because I really need to talk to someone and get this stuff sorted out in my head, but I have nowhere to go. I really don't feel like posting on websites and talking to people on hotlines helps in the long run. It's a way to vent, and that's really it. I need one-on-one help and I don't know where to get it.

The thing is, I'm way too broke to afford actual therapy, and I'd be unsure about making payments without talking to my parents first, but I don't want them to know I'm going back to counseling because then they'd want to know why.
I tried Googling low-cost and free mental health services in my area, but nothing really stood out as what I want. Is there any way I could find the type of counseling I need or am I just stuck for now?

I don't remember what country you live in, but in some areas of the US (or at least Connecticut) we have community health centers that offer things on a sliding-scale. A lot of them offer different services from medical to dental to mental health. Does your area have anything similar to that? A lot of the time if you explain your situation to them they will be willing to work with you at a CHC.

Let it come and let it be...

I live in California, and I haven't heard of those before but I will try to look some up around here. Thank you!
