Is this normal? - October 11th 2018, 06:37 AM

Like some weird, dark, or sexual thoughts go through your head at random times and then feel like people can hear your thoughts? Like, things you don't want to think about, like someone you love dying or hurting an animal, despite it not coming from... You...like the real you...
Idk is this something everyone does and thinks people can read your thoughts or is it just me. Because I'm sick of 'em and want them out of my head.

Hey there,

I moved your thread to the mental health forum as I feel you will get better responses here.

Some people find that they may have 'intrusive thoughts'. That is, thoughts that you have that might be explicit or gruesome in nature that randomly occur. They can be distressing or annoying, but are harmless as you realise they are just thoughts and not your reality and they don't reflect on you as a person.

That said, thinking that people can hear or read your thoughts may or may not be related to the thoughts you are experiencing.

We aren't professionals so we can't diagnose you. However, since these thoughts are bothering you, it's recommended that you seek professional help from a doctor or health care provider. They will be able to recommend further help such as a diagnose by a psychiatrist, medication or talk therapy (counselling).

Hope this helps a bit!

Sometimes there are dreams that when you wake up you don’t immediately realize that it was a dream, it would be stored in the memory and you’ve already seen this moment something like a deja vu)

The part you were saying about having intrusive thoughts I think many people have those thoughts go through their minds at times and they also quickly leave most of those peoples minds. As for feelings of other people hearing those thoughts I am not sure about that happening very often and don't see that as too normal of a thought pattern but I am certainly far from a professional and quite messed up myself in many ways.

I think there is a difference between feeling insecure about the things your thinking and intrusive thoughts.

So if you're daydreaming about sex in class, and suddenly you're like "oh gosh, better focus, imagine if they knew what I was thinking", that's different than actually thinking people can see what you think.

Additionally, I think it is different if you're having unwanted thoughts versus thoughts you want and from there, why is it that that the thoughts are unwanted (e.g. is it intrusive and linked to a mental illness like OCD or is it something you feel shame about, etc)

It might be worth speaking to someone who is qualified to help you sort these out (e.g. a therapist, psychologist)
