..At Night - November 27th 2009, 05:12 PM

Well, I've always found it hard to get off to sleep.
But as of late when I'm trying to drop off I hear things, and obviously as I'm posting this where I am I don't mean taps dripping or whatever. I hear voices saying not good stuff. Like I'm worthless and people hate me why am I still here, etc. Sounding almost the same as people I know, but with a darker edge to it. If that makes sense.
I've tried reading listening to music, which distracts me to a point then I have to lie there and hear it all.
Anybody have any ideas of what I could do to stop it?
Or whats causing it?

It's probably just stemming from some self-esteem issues, I wouldn't think it's anything more severe considering you're half-asleep when you hear them. Whatever it takes for you to raise your self-esteem, do that, and remember you ARE appreciated and loved, mkay?

i think it might be in your subconcious, like its yourself that is making representations of familiar voices. if there is something stressing you out maybe you need to express it?

Re: ..At Night - November 29th 2009, 02:52 AM

I know how that feels. I've had full-length nightmares where my friends' bodies were taken over by my bullies, and they started shouting things like, "Your friends just feel sorry for you!" Lovely. I hear it in my friends' voices sometimes, too...

However, when I exhaust myself before I go to sleep, I don't hear these things. You have to do something that makes you really tired...or drink tea. If you don't lay awake in bed, you'll be sleeping...and then you can't hear those voices.

...But if you full-length nightmares about it, like I used to, then I would talk to a therapist.
