I'm all over the place. - January 3rd 2010, 03:01 PM

My moods lately have been pretty erratic, one minute I want to cry and don't think life is worth living, next I couldn't be happier, another day I'll hate everyone and then others I couldn't have more energy and I run around like a nutter doing loads of house work.
My moods aren't normally this unstable.
But over the last few days I usually start my day off depressed and work into some other mood.
Yesterday I had no energy, felt low and then all of a sudden I rushed around doing house work like I had a firework up my bum. Chores that would usually take a lot of the day took me an hour where I was running around like a mad woman.
Then later on my mood crashed completely and I just felt so depressed like life was not worth living anymore.
My moods are so messed up right now, usually they change but not this quickly.
More than often I'm low or depressed but never THIS bad. Could someone make some suggestions because I hate feeling like this.
Thanks.

Hey,

I'm sorry you feel this way.
I want to start off by saying have you talked to your parents about this issue?Or at least talked to a family physisian?
These may be early signs of bipolar disorder a mental illness. When you are in you highs (mania), you feel on top of the world. No one can stop you and you are invincible. Also you have racing thoughts and rapid speach. You do irratice things and you have a scence of euthoria. After the manic, you can crash into a low (depression). Depression may be self explanitory. You down in the dumps and feel hopeless. You try to isolate yourself from everyone else. Depression can also attribute to self-injurous behavior or even suicide if left untreated for a large amount of time.
I suggest you talk to someone about this because if bipolar disoder is left untreated, it can lead to devistating injury or even death.

I believe in you,
Alicia

No, I haven't spoken to anyone about this. I have people with mental illness on both sides of my family though. My grandfather was schizophrenic on my dad's side and on my mum's side my uncle is scizophrenic.
Could that increase the chances of me having a mental illness?

yes it could. It actually increases your chances by 75%. If both sides are schizophrenic, you might want to try being tested for that instead of BP and if you still don't feel right, get checked out for BP

Thanks for the advice I will take it on board.
I tried speaking to my mum about my mood changes... wish I hadn't bothered.
I'll just have to sort things out alone, as per-usual.
