Unhappy Felling Lost - February 7th 2010, 11:15 PM

Im brand new here, and i m not sure if this is in the right section so please bear with me.

Im 17 years old and i will be 18 in May and i just got hit with the realization that my life is completely out of whack. Im almost 18 and i have no idea what i want to do in life i don't have any set of skills to build a career off of and the thought of 4 or more years of school horrify's me i couldn't even complete high school because i blew off the first 2 years of it so i went and got a G.E.D. i wouldn't make that same mistake if i where to go to college but i have no idea what i would study i would just be floating around campus aimlessly, on top of that i now realize that there are no real relationships in my life i live at home with my mom but we don't connect on any level we don't really fight like we used to but i thinks thats mainly because we NEVER talk and i hope this doesn't seem vain but i really don't fell like she's my mom... that brings me to my friends whom i do like but i realize our friendship cant last, none of us. We are all so different, different beliefs, goals, plans some have or are joining the military others going off to college but i can see that im the only one that really has no idea what to do at this point i am so lost and i have allot on my mind should i consider seeing a therapist?

Well I don't see why not. I mean, remember that a therapist can help you handle situations, even if you're not mentally ill.
