Ombres - April 15th 2010, 11:16 PM

Ombres, for everyone who doesn't know, means shadows in French. I want to convince myself that is all that they are, but I don't know. I don't know if I am going crazy, I don't know if I am cursed, I don't know what is happening to me. I keep seeing things out of the corner of my eyes, they used to just stay there. That's when I was able to convince myself that my eyes are just playing tricks on me, or I am not getting enough sleep. But now I will see them right in front of me, I hear them whisper my name as I lay in bed. Yesterday I heard one whisper my name durring science class. I am a 12 year old girl, I'm confused. If you have any idea, any at all, please, help.

First of all, welcome on TH! Good that you can talk about this here.

Usually, for a lot of persons, ombres/shadows are just shadows. Nothing else. But for some persons, like you, it gives an anxiety problem.
Do you have any idea why you keep seeing those ombres or why you are afraid of them? Do you see them regularly? Do you see them all the time? Do you see them in a specific situation?
If you see them and heard them in your bed, for example, you can try some relaxing exercises. Try to concentrate you on something else like your breath or the curtains or a doll. You can do that in class as well. Try to fix you on something in class (for example the teacher). I used to have a similar problem as well, and I had this mostly in some classes. It may sound weird, but the only way I succeeded to concentrate me on something else, was to look to my teacher and imagine myself how he would look when he is naked.

If relaxation doesn't work, try to talk about this to somebody. Try to talk to your parents, your siblings, a friend, maybe a teacher, a school counsellor or maybe a doctor?

If you need it, you can PM me.
