Short-term memory - April 16th 2010, 07:45 PM

Basically mine is terrible. I've even got to the point of looking things up in books/online to improve it. I've figured good tricks to remember lists, people's names and things I need to do but it's still pretty bad. For example if I need to go to the toilet or need a drink of water in the night I'll go downstairs but forget actually walking down the stairs :/ It's like I just end up there. Obviously I must have walked downstairs but I can't remember doing it.

I also lose things really easily. I cover shifts in a pub and completely forget what people were drinking and forget were the glasses are.

My long-term memory is quite good. I remember stupid things that mean very little. For example I will say to my friend "Remember the day where me and you went to Tesco and bought that massive bottle of cola? We were talking near the bridge about mobile phones near the bridge" I just remember things I don't need to remember :/

If you can't remember things in the middle of the night, it's not the end of the world.

Here's a question though, do you have poor short term memory or are you not really paying full attention to what you're doing?

I ask that because I also thought my memory was terrible until I realised I'm constantly day dreaming or thinking about something but am never in the moment. Usually happens when I'm not interested at all in what currently going on in front of me, which is often haha!

I do daydream a lot and just live in my own little world so maybe that is why :/
