Not feeling anything? - May 9th 2010, 01:44 AM

So I used to have crushes 24/7, I was in love with some one at ALL times. One week it was on person, then the next another. But ever since I got put on these new anti depressants, I pretty much stopped feeling anything, including love I guess, since I haven't had a thing for anyone since I got put on them. Then, recently, my friend told me she had feelings for me. Now, I did have feelings for her a while back, so I should think this is great right? But I feel absolutely nothing for her.

This is sort of a two part question..

1: Should I be worried about the whole not feeling thing? I assume anti depressants do this all the time, so it's not a big deal, but just making sure.

2: Should I give this a go? I'm not sure if I were off anti depressants I would be extremely excited about this.

Thanks in advance. O_o

Self pity will not rescue you.
Sometimes we have to save our own lives,
not because no one else cares, but because no one else can.

Life for you has been less than kind
So take a number, stand in line
We've all been sorry, we've all been hurt
But how we survive is what makes us who we are.

Dreamed up the maps, give me the charcoal and the paper
We invent paths they cannot see, and they're too scared to walk

Only after disaster can we be resurrected. It's only after you've lost everything that you are free to do anything.

Hey there Terry,

It's not too unusual for people who have been put on anti-depressants to feel almost 'emotionless' to some extent or at some point. I think that if you are suffering this feeling of extreme apathy then it may be worth talking to your doctor or psychiatrist about your experience with your anti-depressants. You should be able to experience emotions, even if you are taking mood altering medication. I'm sure that you don't want to spend too much time without feeling love or other positive emotions!

As for the issue with question number two, I wouldn't like to say yes or no, but it may be a good idea to tell her how you are feeling and be open with her.

Take care.

Not that this helps but - when I was on antidepressants, I went periods where I felt nothing at all. However, I stopped taking them because that itself stressed me out.. and for other reasons.

Take care. ♥
