Attachment to an Inanimate thing.... - June 15th 2010, 03:09 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering by the original poster or by a Moderator. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I have no idea if this is the right place to post this or not, but I think I am insane. I am not sure if I am the only one who is like this or if there are others. I really feel alone in this though

The memory of what happened does upset me at times. The memory is triggered often in my mind.

So...due to a sad, event in my past, I have developed an attachment to the color red. Anything that is red I feel personalty attached to. (Minus Blood, I dont like blood)

Is there others out there that are attached to colors or Inanimate things? Am I insane?

(If you would like to know the full story I will be willing to explain in PM's)

I don't have experience with this but I've talked to several who have. It's not uncommon to associate an inanimate object with an event and suddenly feel a strong bond and defense towards that object.

Something you can consider is therapy that will help you work through what caused the attachment and how to handle day to day situations so that the attachment doesn't cause problems for you.
