Nightmares... - September 20th 2010, 08:29 PM

Every night for the past two weeks I've been having horrible nightmares. In every single one there is a knife pulled out on me, and it's held up to a part of my torso. Every morning I've been waking up gasping for breath and crying. Last night was the worst one I've had yet, I woke up an hour and a half before my alarm would go off, and I sat there terrified for that long. Last night I was in my room at ten, but I didn't fall asleep until midnight because I was afraid to have another nightmare.
This morning I woke up and I had a thin cut going down my chest, that's where the knife was held up to me in the nightmare. I know that I must have scratched myself, but waking up to find that doesn't make me feel any better.
I'm terrified to fall asleep now because I hate these nightmares so much. I'll read happy-go-lucky books before bed, but I always think of the nightmares before I fall asleep. How do I make these stop?

Well, as I suggested to the other user having nightmares lately...

Personally, what I've found helps me is falling asleep listening to some calming songs, or even Ambient music. Though, one of my recent top songs to fall asleep to is "Fireflies" by Owl City, you've probably heard it. I put that on low-volume, let my mind wander, and fall asleep.

But, if you don't think "Fireflies" will work, or even just want to try the Ambient music, here are some sites with great Ambient Music Internet Radio Stations!

SomaFM, particularly the stations "Drone Zone", "Space Station", or you can just click around and find one right for you.

Sleepbot Environmental Broadcast is a great Ambient station, with a lot of nature-based sounds.

Those are the stations I commonly use, but even a Google search could bring up more if you don't like those ones.

Hope this helps!
