Unhappy crazy? - April 16th 2011, 10:21 AM

Im 14 and depressed. I dont talk a lot but I write a lot. Its my way of expressing myself. You can guess that I'm a cutter and a loner. I sometimes cut myself because I hate having no one to talk to. Sometimes I cut because I have nothing else to do. Am I going crazy now because I hurt myself for no reason at all? Because if it is the case then I'll gladly go to a mental institute like my mom wants to.

Hello, welcome to TH.

Finding something to motivate yourself, and to get your feelings across is alright. Writing for example is a good method however, cutting yourself isn't. I'm happy that you are able to come into acceptance of this problem. I see that you are open to discussing this with your mother. I believe that she only wants the best for you, and wants you to be safe and happy. Dealing with depression can be difficult, but you can overcome it. We don't want you to hurt yourself, if you feel that you need the help of professionals, don't be afraid to get it. Tell your mother that you wish to speak to a doctor about this. Accepting your problems and accepting the fact that you need help is a big step towards recovery. You are not crazy, you have a whirlwind of issues and you don't know how to deal with them.

Once again, welcome to TH. We are always here to talk, don't be afraid to ask us anything.
