Dealing - May 13th 2011, 11:40 PM

So I've been through the school's counseling office multiple times due to suicide issues and cutting issues for the last two years or so.
After tracking my moods, I've come to a conclusion that I'm not depressed but actually bipolar/I-have-huge-mood-swings.
Due to the experiences of the counseling sessions, my parents have denied that I am depressed and need counseling, so counseling/therapy is out of the question.

What do I do to help ease the moods until I can either grow out of it and/or possibly go into therapy/counseling to deal with it?

I'm willing to assume you've concluded you're Bipolar based on mood swings, like going from Depressed to Happy?

Bipolar is more complicated than that, so do you care to elaborate your moods? It might make it easier for us to try and help.

Well, I can be happy for a couple of days, depressed for a couple of days, or have very violent mood swings within one day, or in a couple of hours.

Contrary to popular belief, the mood swings associated with bipolar are not simply from happy to depressed. Depending on your age mood swings can be a normal part of life, but there is much more to bipolar than that.

Self diagnosing is a very dangerous thing to do, and if you ever think something is wrong then its best to go see youe doctor and have them refer you to a psychiatric professional. Don't let your normal doctor diagnose you, make sure its someone who's specialized in psychiatry.

I know self-diagnosing is a dangerous thing. I cannot access any type of therapy at the moment.

So let's say they're just normal mood swings. How do I control them so I'm at least not randomly shouting curses in the middle of class and threatening to kill people?

Exercise and a better more healthy outlet. Like the arts, a sport, or something else.

Also, you can always see your school counselor, seeing as you're in school.
