Hey Cat,
I know anxiety can be a right pain, so I'll try and explain my way of how I used to cope and hopefully it'll be kind of useful!
First of all, telling yourself to relax doesn't work. You just end up frustrated and feeling worse when it doesnt work. Take some normal breaths, focus on something, and let your body relax. You can ask doctors for relaxation tapes for anxiety etc, and they are AMAZING. They teach you how to properly relax and it's brilliant.
Second, I used to visualise my anxiety. Mine was a nasty little orange spikey thing, almost like plasticine, and I used to imagine it spreading over all the things I wanted to do but couldn't, and it used to get me all angry. So what I did was put myself into that vision - scooping the orange ball of anxiety up and squishing it in my hands, really taking out my frustration on it. Then I used to throw it away.

You have to find somethign that works for you. It used to get to me that I couldn't go out to nice places or do nice stuff, so I used that frustration to mentally 'beat up' my anxiety. It sounds silly but it worked for me.

Remember too, a LOT of people struggle with this, and seeing a GP or your doctor can get you some support, and they can then give you advice on how to deal with it. I found that just admitting to someone that I couldn't do stuff because I was anxious about it, made me feel LOADS better.

Hope I helped, sorry it was so long.
