So...randomly I came across some info/research on the web about Bipolar Disorder. I seem to match quite a bit of the symptoms and am sort of worried that I might be bipolar. I am going to the pediatrician (yes I still see a kiddy dr.
) and I was wondering if I should talk to him about it? If he could do the phyc eval? Idk what to do...

Everybody in the world matchs criteria for psychiatric disorders, that's not what means you have it its more like a guideline for doctors.
You could ask your doctor but usually if nobody else has said anything I highly doubt you would have bipolar. |

Before you mention it to your doctor, maybe explain better what symptoms you feel you fall under the criteria with?

I think before you ask your pediatrician to perform a psychiatric evaluation on you for bipolar disorder, you look up what it really is. Going by the symptoms is only a fraction of what bipolar disorder truly is, there are diagnostic criteria and multiple types of bipolar disorder, not just bipolar I and II. Also, having the symptoms doesn't mean you have the disorder because the symptoms must cause noticable dysfunction in your life witnessed not just by yourself but by others. In looking up bipolar disorder, look up what manic, hypomanic, depressed and mixed episodes are, paying attention to the clearly stated time indications.
Click on the DSM-IV tab in the following links of bipolar disorder: http://www.dsm5.org/ProposedRevision...n.aspx?rid=524 http://www.dsm5.org/ProposedRevision...n.aspx?rid=525 http://www.dsm5.org/ProposedRevision...n.aspx?rid=494 Click on the DSM-IV tab for the various mood episodes: http://www.dsm5.org/ProposedRevision....aspx?rid=425# http://www.dsm5.org/ProposedRevision...n.aspx?rid=426 http://www.dsm5.org/ProposedRevision...n.aspx?rid=427 http://www.dsm5.org/ProposedRevision...n.aspx?rid=483 I can rip you off, and steal all your cash, suckerpunch you in the face, stand back and laugh. Leave you stranded as fast as a heart-attack.

Thanks so much for the replys!
I had researched this pretty thoroughly before even thinking of posting about it. Maybe I'm just over-analyzing things. And thanks for the site suggestions The Man And XX Master. I think I'll just forget about it for now and if I find myself questioning again then I'll get it checked out. Thanks again <3 |
