OCD related? -
November 15th 2011, 08:40 PM
Ok you'll probably all think this is just normal or not OCD related but just thought I'd throw it out there. For as long as I can remember I've always been really picky about many things, specifically food wise. Like when i get a box of crackers/cookies etc I find my self having to eat all the whole 1's 1st then the broken 1's and if any1 disrupts my pattern I get upset. Same thing happens sort of with M&M's and Skittles...I have to eat ALL of 1 color 1st then move to the next and so on, if any1 asks for any or just takes them I find myself causing a bit of a scene (not intentionally it just happens). Sometimes I can control the outbursts and keep them inside other times they just come out and then people think I'm just "over reacting" and i need to "calm down"...any thoughts?

Yeah, it does sound like some sort of OCD, but its a kind I've never heard of before. I used to always have to be even, like I had to walk an even number of steps or eat an even amount of a kind of food, but I grew out of it. This doesn't seem that extreme, but if you say that you get angry if its disrupted it could grow into something bigger, even an eating disorder. I would talk to your doctor about this
I hope I helped.
When someone apologizes enough times for something they'll never stop doing I think its fearless to stop believing them. I think its fearless to say "Your NOT sorry" and walk away.

We all have things that we insist on doing a certain way and can get worked up if we're not able to.
If this obsessive nature is confined to how you eat your crackers/cookies and is not taking over your whole life, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just try to keep it confined to the food, because having full-blown OCD that occupies your every waking thought is a living Hell, trust me.

Almost everyone has OCD tendencies, even minute cases of OCD, which is what I would assume this is, you're pretty normal it's just what you obsess over is not something that some others would obsess over so they don't see it as a big deal when they disrupt the pattern. I'm the same way with skittles and m&m's plus I have to have the volume of a tv at an odd number, or like even when I was little, if I hit my arm on a door or wall, I had to do it to the other to make it even. I just obsess a bit more than normal, but you're fine.
