Hi there.

It's great you are getting help for feeling the way you do. Medication affects everyone differently but I really hope this does help you. When I was on prozac it never helped me so after being on it for several months I was taken of it. I don't think there is a set time for everyone to take it, but your doctor or psychiatrist should recmommned a time. I am aware that it can cause drowsiness which might mean it might be better to take it at night. However this might just be a symptom for the first few weeks and if you can stick that out then taking it in the morning should be okay but you can check with who ever prescribed you it.

Being on medication is good but I was wondering if you're getting any form of therapy too. It's important to work through the things which are causing you to feel low as well.

Jessie.

My personal experience with prozac..I never noticed when it stated to kick in, after awhile I just felt better. I never had any side effects. But everyone reacts differently to meds.

I took prozac for about 6 months and it didn't effect me at all. BUT everyone is different and effects are different for everyone.

I was on it for about 2 months, however it actually made me a lot worse, although like everyone else said, it's different for everyone. It's a widely used anti-depressant and a lot of people take it without problems, but it can take a few weeks to settle into it. Good luck!

I was on Prozac for 1 month as an idea from my psychiatrist. I'm diagnosed bipolar and its contradictory to prescribe a bipolar individual antidepressants as they can cause effects and episodes not normally seen in other people who take prozac.
For me it started working after 2 weeks, but I had to stop taking it 3 weeks after that as while it was helping with depression it was making every other aspect of my bipolar worse.

But like everyone said, its different for everybody.

Ive been on 20mg of prozac for almost 2 months and I have seen a change. I am not getting upset over the littlest things as much and i am not getting as anxious as I used to be. I don't have the days where i just want to cry all day, I am actually brushing it off my sholuder now. I do though have my ups and downs but my downs don't get as bad. Everybody is different though, but I hope it helps! Good Luck!

I'm on a 30 mg dosage of Prozac, and it seemed like there might have been a bit of an effect at first, but I don't think it's working for me, personally. The side affects haven't been too good to me, either. I've been experiencing a serious loss of appetite, and I think it might be affecting my sex drive as well. According to my doctor, it takes about 1-2 weeks for it to kick in. But, like everyone else has said, everyone will have a different reaction to it. If it isn't helping you, talk to your doctor, so you can discuss a potential increase in dosage or a switch to another medication.
