Forgetting to take my Citalopram -
January 11th 2012, 08:28 PM
A lot of the time I forget to take my Citalopram >.> I know it's stupid because then I feel like shit a few days later. How can I make myself remember to take them? I sometimes go out somewhere and then remember I haven't taken them >.> I can't take them at night because then I can't sleep.

I find leaving them by my bed on my bed side table reminds me to take them every morning because I see them. You need to leave them in an obvious place where you will see them every morning. Hope this helps

I always forget to take mine too. For a while, I set an alarm so I would remember. Now I always keep them in my purse. I figure as long as I take it around the same hour every day, it's okay.
Pick a time (whatever works best for you, I take mine early evening so I can sleep) and take it at that time every single day. Try and line it up with another activity, like after lunch or after you brush your teeth... If you need someone to talk to, my PM box is always open.

I had this problem with Duloxetine because it actually gave me memory loss
What I did was set an alarm/reminder on my phone for about 3 mins after my wake up alarm - that way I was likely to still be in my room. I also cut half the packet out and kept it in my bag - just in case. I learned the hard way what forgetting those tablets felt like. It took two days to shake the headache

Maybe you could write 'TAKE MEDS!!!' on a sticky note and stick it where you will see it every morning like next to your toothbrush, on the front door or on a mirror

The others have given good ideas!!Do you take them with food?? If so, you could even put a sticky note on the cereal box or something.
I have to take my BC pill every night and although I don't usually forget things, I find keeping it in my make-up bag helps if I'm going out ~ I'll generally want to reapply make-up at some stage of the night cos I'm a big vainer, and I'll open my make-up bag where it'll be if I've forgotten it. I think alarms and notes are probably your best bet until you can get into a habit, or until you can start associating them with something, like a mealtime It'll get easier though!!
