Just wanting to NOT. - February 9th 2012, 07:35 AM

Hey all.
I don't want to take medication. I recently came off for a few weeks and felt the best I've felt in months. My manager said that I looked good, that for a while there I looked like a zombie.
Anyway so I did a stupid thing - I went for a walk on the motorway, and naturally got picked up by the police. Now I've been told my choices are either take the medication or go to hospital.

They can force me to go to hospital. There is this thing in New Zealand called the mental health act, and if they can prove that you cannot be contained safely, you can be forced into hospital and forced to take medication.

I am not under the mental health act at the moment.

Here's the thing: I don't want to take the medication. I also don't want to go to hospital.

Does anybody have ANY advice?

Can you prove that you are capable of being contained safely? If you can I think that would be your best bet at avoiding both of those situations. Like you said, they have to prove you can't be contained safely. If they can't do that, you'll be ok This is assuming that you haven't had a run with the police previously. If you don't mind me asking, why were you walking on the motorway? I'm very glad you're feeling better though!!

I remember replying to a thread you made earlier about liking medication because it lifted your depression.
The fact that you were feeling like a zombie, to me, just means you were on too high of a dose or need to try a different medication. Medication shouldn't make you feel like a zombie or look like a zombie or anything like that, it's just supposed to help you with the symptoms of whatever it is you had.

Doesn't the fact you took a stroll on a busy road worry you and make you think that maybe you do need at least a little medication? There's a reason they're pushing it on you like this, not just to be mean and impose on your freedom.
Your current med-free freedom is imposing on the safety of you, and everyone around you. Hey, this sounds familiar to a certain act to do with mental health and involuntary confinment....

Simply put you have two choices, take the medication but talk to a psychiatrist about your less zombie options.
Second option, go be in the hospital for a bit, where they will force you to take the medication and you won't really get to talk to a psychiatrist about your less zombie options.
