Feeling like im on the verge of a relapse - June 11th 2012, 01:53 PM

Stress is causing me so much weight gain I can't take it. I feel myself slowly slipping over the edge, like I seriously feel the urge to vomit every time I put something in my mouth (I haven't given in yet) and I honestly just don't feel like eating anymore unless I'm in a binge mood. I'm so confused with myself right now

Hey Vicky,

I am so sorry you are struggling right now, but hey, is that the ticker for how long it has been since you have purged? Over one year? That is AMAZING. I want you to acknowledge how wonderful you are doing. It is a huge accomplishment to go that long, and even when the ride gets tough, recovery IS worth it.

Do you have somebody you trust that you are close with that knows about your eating disorder? Overall, surrounding yourself with positive influences that will encourage you to eat is a great idea. That will prevent you from binging, along with all the things afterwards.

Next, are you talking to somebody professional about your eating disorder? I would obviously recommend that you talk to them about the feelings you are having. You do not deserve to suffer alone, and talking to a professional would really help you. A doctor/nutritionist/dietitian can also help you create a healthy meal and exercise plan that can help you meet your healthy weight goals in a positive way, without resorting back to any disordered behavior and allowing you to eat enough everyday.

Another thing I'm really going to push is for you o really stop the binging as much as you are stopping the purging. It is a really great thing to stop purging, but the binging is as part of this cycle as the purging, and it causes the bad feelings you are having. One idea would be to not buy the foods that often trigger the binge, and try to keep very healthy food in your house. Also, as stated earlier, eating with other people really helps this as well.

Hey there Vicky. I know this is really hard
Are you currently in therapy?
If so, you might talk to your therapist about it. If not, you might consider therapy an option.
I feel like having someone to talk to who understands the urges & out of control feelings helps me.
