Angry Hated - December 22nd 2012, 05:10 AM

The endless fights with my parents, shouting at the dinner table, my sister crying and spending everyday she can with her boyfriend because she doesnt want to be around me. Alls she does is yell shut up! My mom continuesly threatens me with the hospital. Thats not support thats mean. Im sick of expressing my concerns and difficulties with my family and having them shout and freak out like im a crazy person. My dad alwayd dayd push your comfort zone. Every bite is a push, so what i wont eat red meat? Im eating chicken so why cant they be proud of me and encourage my success not hate me for my downfalls. I feel so alone, i know im losing weight again i lost my period again and havent had a routine cycle in a year which frusterates me. I want to be a healthy weight and im trying i just cant deal with the pressure from everyone its making me lose my appetite. All the yelling is making me sick

It sounds to me like you're trying reach out in the way that you know how, and your family is doing the same. It's very hard to understand an Eating Disorder, even for people who have it! I'd imagine that your parents are lashing out like this because that's their way of coping with your eating disorder. These sorts of things affect everyone, and can make them angry and hurt inside. They aren't angry with you, even if that is how it comes across, their angry at what's happening to you. No one wants to see the person they love go through so much pain. I think this is their only way of knowing how to cope. I think you should write them a letter and calmly explain to them everything going on, and everything you're feeling. Tell them what would help you best, not what they could do to help, but what would help. Leave that ball in their court. Take recovery into your own hands. Write in the letter what you want to do for help. Writing is a way in which you can get everything you want to say down on paper the way you want it to be. Leave it for them before you leave for school or work. This way they can reflect on the letter, and calm down before they talk to you about it. I hope things get better for you, dear<3
