Am I developing ED? - September 14th 2013, 10:43 PM

IDK, if I am, I know very little ED, so excuse my lack of knowledge :P

So lately I've really been wanting to lose weight, because I feel like I am getting fat. I've been obsessing over my collarbone(wanting it to show),having flat stomach,& having my hips show.

But, the thing Is I want to lose weight, but I love food.I eat food comfort,& a lot of it. Sometimes I feel guilty when eat too much though.

Personally I don't think you do. Just be careful on how you go about loosing the weight. As long as you do it in a healthy way you should be fine.

Hey there,

Well, first important question, do you actually need to lose weight? Michael is right to bring up that healthy weight loss is often a positive thing, but if your body doesn't need to lose weight, you can't lose weight in a healthy way. I would consider seeing a doctor and ask them about your weight, ways to improve your health, etc. They can give you a healthy weight-loss plan if you need, or help you find help if they feel that your behaviors are disordered, as TeenHelp can't diagnose you with an eating disorder.

I also want to point out that you shouldn't lose weight so that you can get defined colarbones or hipbones. Your body is structured the way it is, and you cannot change your bone structure. For some people, collarbones showing, thigh gaps, and other characteristics of being thin are actually impossible, even at healthy low weights. Don't set your goals at something unattainable; it's okay to just accept your body the way it is.

Good luck.
