Trigger food - October 7th 2014, 01:21 AM

I honestly love pizza but I hate it so much. It's my trigger food for purging and bingeing. I can't just have one slice and then when im done eating all I want to do is purge. I need this greasy food out of my stomach. I am literally staring at my bathroom willing myself to move and go purge. I hate trigger foods. I don't know what to do.

Don't lose who you are, in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing,
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard, to follow your heart
Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising,
Just be true to who you are

I am so sorry that you are going through such a difficult/tough time right now. I completely understand what you are going through. I and many other people in the same position as you have a trigger food. I know for me, I don't have a single trigger food. I have a bunch of trigger foods, but the one that triggers me the most would have to be chicken. I don't know what it is about chicken, but it seems to cause a binge to occur. Every time I eat chicken, I sometimes binge and I sometimes do not binge.

What about pizza triggers you? What makes pizza different from other food that you eat? Does your counselor/therapist know that pizza is a trigger food for you? Your counselor/therapist is going to tell you that you are going to have to get over it, but it can take awhile, depending on the person.

"Trigger" or "fear" foods can be a little difficult to understand as people have different experiences with them. A trigger/fear food can be a trigger/fear for one person and not a trigger/fear food for another person. But recovery is going to be the same for each person.

I don't have a therapist. Because no one wants to work with me. Pizza triggers me because I can't just eat one piece i eat 2-4 pieces and then I want to purge. It's the greasy food and everything that just triggers me
