Question Anorexic? - February 1st 2015, 02:59 AM

So atm im in hospital for depression, and you know after i eat sometimes a throw up, and today im running as i normally do and i collapsed. The doctors told me im anorexic and idk how to process this because im overweight. And im a guy, guys cant be anorexic.
Backround: self harm (ongoing), depression (ongoing), Anorexia (bullshit)
Questions: how do i tell the doctor that they are wrong, how can i lose weight? What does being sectioned mean?

when we look in the mirror we see a fat, ugly, worthless person
you do, i do, others do

i have a problem, i know i do but it doesnt change how i feel at time
and for you its even harder for you to accept because you're a guy
'cuse me now it the school talking but according to statistics young guys are
becoming more at risk for Anorexia

i dont know what sectioned means at it relates to this
but i do know its gonna be a hard battle

I will never forget what you did to me.
I will never forgive it.
I will never stop mourning what you stole from me.
But I realize now I can't steal it back and
I'm done spending every day trying to.
...
Well in my case 'try stop everyday trying to'

well let's put it this way. Do you make yourself throw up because of thoughts you have about you in relation to food and self worth?
There is a fine line between starving as from an eating disorder and losing an appetite from depression. If you feel like you're not eating because of depression (or for any other reason eg: change in medication, etc) you can speak to the doctor about that.
Though I doubt a doctor would diagnose you out of the blue. You had to be showing SOME signs. You can ask for a re-evaluation.

Now even though you may or may not have an eating disorder, we need to clear some things up.
You can get an eating disorder even though you're a guy. Additionally you can get an eating disorder if you're medically obese. We all need to eat and you don't deserve to starve. You don't starve because you are overweight. You starve because you attach your self worth to your weight and how much food you eat. Eating disorders are a psychological thing. Much less a biological. It is quite different than kids who are hungry because of lack of food. So yes, anyone can develop an eating disorder.

A last note is that, if you have an eating disorder you may want to stay clear of losing weight. I know you're saying you're overweight but here's the thing. You are already having a way of viewing yourself that isn't healthy. You also mentioned that you collapsed and that's already a red flag.

If you lose consciousness that's like a really red flag.
