Food issues - January 16th 2016, 09:13 PM

Okay, so people have been commenting on my eating but I don't think it's that bad, and I wouldt consider it a disorder. I tend to stick to one meal a day for the past couple of months/few weeks, because I am just too stressed to eat and at least hunger isn't feeling depressed. I am also larger than my friends, but I wouldn't consider myself fat, although I could stand to be a bit skinnier and in better shape. I don't like scales, they are just pointless and I won't go near them. One meal a day isn't that bad, and the pacing is just because I am so stressy and anxious. I dont purge myself, and I don't always keep track of what I eat. I don't like eating a lot around anyone than my close friends, and currently food s just not appealing at all. I wouldn't say that's an eating disorder, because I still eat a meal or something small and I could probably do with losing weight anyway (I'm a uk size edited), as my thighs are just bad. Sorry about mentioning my size tw, just seen you're not supose to do that (only second day on here)

I think that you do have an eating disorder; one meal a day certainly isn't enough! You should stick to 3 meals a day, and ignore the fact that you think you're 'fat'. Stop going on diets, I think you're well enough to not have a diet. Don't ignore what you eat, It's really important, even though you aren't in the mood to 'really care' Be strong! Eat healthy!

I don't think you do have an eating disorder actually, you don't how any signs of an eating disorder apart from the not eating much, which can also be caused by several other things like depression for example, or being stressed. As Valerie said though, it is important to eat 3 meals a day, no matter how much you don't feel like it. You can get sick from not eating much. With the being bigger than your friends, if you want that to improve the only safe way is by exercising and eating properly. Although, remember you are amazing the way you are so don't feel pressured into trying to change for anyone else.

Take care.

Eating disorders tend to stem from mental health. I can't tell you whether you do or do not have an eating disorder as I'm not a professional, however I will say that if you're only eating one meal a day it's unlikely you're consuming enough calories and getting enough nutrients. Try and keep some easy, healthy snacks that you can eat during the day. Fruit makes a good snack, vegetables with hummus, non-buttered popcorn. You can also cook a big meal and then eat the leftovers over the next day or two. You'll feel less stressed if you are eating properly as you'll have more energy. Even if it's hard, try and at least get to two meals each day and I promise you'll notice a difference.

And here you are living, despite it all.

Hi there.

Thanks for coming to us here for some advice. I hope we can help you

Personally I don't feel like you have disordered eating patterns or thoughts especially. However, eating three meals a day with snacks in between is vital for lots of reasons like your mood levels, energy levels etc. So therefore I would encourage you to do so. If you are concerned about your eating habits, and think you might have an eating disorder, I suggest you see your doctor for this as we're not medically trained and there's for can not tell you for sure whether you do or not. We just give opinions

I hope you're doing okay,
Jessie
