Hospitalization? - May 12th 2016, 11:23 PM

My friend is a social worker and really has me worried... She thinks I need to go to the hospital to get admitted and tubed... I really don't think I'm that bad. At what point is going to the hospital necessary? What are warning signs of needing immediate care?

Currently I can't keep any food down without throwing up. I'm weak. My neck is swollen and tight to the point where I can't move it to check my blind spot driving. I can't shower without passing out. I'm too tired to finish this stupid online paperwork to even start the fuckong intake process... I'm so fed up right now

Hey

Sorry to hear you're struggling. Glad you came to us here.

I was in hospital when I was going to get tube fed. I didn't eat for several weeks and was put now weigh ins, fluid chart and a. Food intake chart but literally didn't eat a thing when my psychiatrist said he was going to send me to hospital for a peg tube. That made me eat. I still purged a lot and got my bathroom door locked because of this. I know people with eating disorders who have been on their target weight and have still been tube fed and I know people who have been severely under weight and have had the same so it really does varie. If it were to happen who would it be putting it in place? Maybe it's best to speak to them about it and get their advice?

I hope you manage to pick yourself up but remember we're here for you, always.

Hope and wishes,
Jessie

If I'm being honest, I think going into hospital might not be such a bad idea.

From reading your other threads, it's clear that it's not just your friend who thinks you qualify for hospital treatment, as that is what the eating disorder treatment centre recommended a month ago (and it's likely your condition has deteriorated further since then).

If you feel weak and keep passing out, there's a good chance you might be anaemic. I say this from personal experience. I know you have POTS, but it's still worth getting checked for anaemia, just in case.

The swollen neck sounds like something you should get checked out too.

If you were managing to keep some food down, the situation wouldn't be so desperate. But because you're throwing it all up, I'm concerned that you are just going to become weaker and weaker until you end up in an ambulance.

You must feel completely exhausted, mentally and physically.

I understand that going into hospital is incredibly daunting, but surely feeling this ill is scary too?

You can PM me at any time.

Be kind to yourself.
