so like 2 years ago during the summer i barely ate. id eat like once a day and that was it. i lost a big amount of weight and really loved how i was looking. but i started eating again when my friends were getting mad at me for it and my family started to get suspicious. but a few weeks ago i moved into college. which means no family here with me so ive really wanted to get back to my old ways, as bad as that sounds. and ive been trying for the past few days to not snack inbetween meals to kind start myself off slow but i get mad because ill grab a snack. i just dont know what to do anymore. my mind is in like 100 different places. but im so desperate to loose weight because i see all these skinny girls at college and i gained like half of what i had lost back and it just drives me insane.

Hey Erika,

I can definitely understand that feeling of "I'm free! I can do whatever I want and nobody can stop me!" Let me tell you though, that is a SCARY thing...because it means things can get super bad and nobody will stop you until it's too late. I just want to be honest with you, which is why I said that.

In terms of losing weight--if medically you do need to lose weight (e.g., a doctor tells you that for your body, it would be healthier if you weighed a bit less) then there are healthier ways to do that--exercise, eat frequent meals, etc. Skipping meals and restricting is never healthy.

But if you don't need to lose weight (if a doctor wouldn't advise you to) and you're still struggling with wanting to lose weight, that's a big red flag to you. It might be helpful to check out your college's counseling center/health center--generally they provide counseling services for free and can help work with you around these issues so that you can figure out what exactly is going on and why you're feeling the need to lose weight.

I definitely encourage you to reach out for help--because you don't have to suffer like this, and you deserve to have help and support!
