Questions For the Recovered (or Recovering) ANA or Bul. - December 4th 2010, 06:07 PM

SOOOO i had a mixture of anorexia and bulimia. I'd starve myself most days of the week and workout hardcore daily. I would however binge once a week or so. And use laxatives after. Starve more after the binge etc.
And im now not binging like ever. And if i do i dont use laxatives, ever. Ive stopped starving too. I actually gained a little more than I would have liked too, so now Im trying to lose a few. I wasnt really ever underweight, just borderline in my ED days.

1. How long did it take you to get your hair back? How did you get it back? what did you eat/do?
2. What are foods to keep your hair healthy after its coming back?
3. What do you eat now that youre recovred?
4. Are you happier now than in ur ED days (starving myself made me happy as weird as that sounds, i felt so...powerful?)
5. what makes you think youre recovered now?
6. Do you weight the same less or more now than before your ED?
7. do you feel fat now since you used to be skinnier with your ED?
8. Was recovering worth it
9. what made you decide to stop your ED?
10. whast your motivation to not slip back into your ED days?
11. did people know you had an ED when you did?
12. any advice to me a recovering ED person?

THANKS GUYS AND GALS! love you all! so happy my ED didnt kill me

probably about a year. but its still really dry, however i also dye it often.

2. What are foods to keep your hair healthy after its coming back?
lots of fruits and veggies. i think the main thing is just eating a balanced diet.

3. What do you eat now that youre recovred?
just about everything...in moderation.

4. Are you happier now than in ur ED days (starving myself made me happy as weird as that sounds, i felt so...powerful?)
bulimia did give me "power" but its all fake, in reality i was completley out of control.

5. what makes you think youre recovered now?
i think im in recovery. i don't know if ill ever say im totally recover. in about a year ive probably binged and purged 10-15 times. when i was really bad with bulimia i'd binge and purge at least 2-3 times a day.

6. Do you weight the same less or more now than before your ED?
a little more. not much though.

7. do you feel fat now since you used to be skinnier with your ED?
sometimes. usually im okay with my weight though.

8. Was recovering worth it
definatley.

9. what made you decide to stop your ED?
it was honestly doctors visits. i had done about $4,000 worth of damage on my teeth, more than 30% of my teeth have fillings. i had also torn my esophagas twice and was starting to scare myself straight.

10. whast your motivation to not slip back into your ED days?
not dissappointing the people i love.

11. did people know you had an ED when you did?
yeah people closest to me knew.

12. any advice to me a recovering ED person?
never give up! don't let the eating disorder voice take over, tell the bitch to shutup
just remember that you deserve better.

THANKS GUYS AND GALS! love you all! so happy my ED didnt kill me

don't let the eating disorder bring you down, you're better than this.

1. How long did it take you to get your hair back? How did you get it back? what did you eat/do?
I'm not so sure I can say I have it back. It's still really thin and dry.

2. What are foods to keep your hair healthy after it coming back?
Just have to keep a balanced diet. Conditioner works wonders in combination with a balanced diet.

3. What do you eat now that you're recovered?
I wouldn't say that I am recovered yet, I'm still struggling to recover.

4. Are you happier now than in your ED days?
I suppose these still are partially my eating disorder days, though I'm not as bad as I was about a year ago.

5. What makes you think you're recovered now?
I don't believe I am, nor do I think I ever really will be. I'll probably always feel it's easier to just not eat. Always have the urge to purge after I eat. Or want to binge. But they've become easier to deal with.

6. Do you weigh the same less or more now than before your ED?
I weigh less now than before I ever had an eating disorder.

7. Do you feel fat now since you used to be skinnier with your ED?
I've always thought of myself as fat before, though now reality is starting to set in and I can really see how unhealthy my weight is now.

8. Was recovering worth it?
Recovery will be worth it, it already is proving that it is.

9. What made you decide to stop your ED?
About a year ago I was in hospital because my body was starting to shutdown. Really made me realise how bad things had gotten and how little control I really had.

10. What's your motivation to not slip back into your ED days?
Not ending up back in hospital like a year ago.

11. Did people know you had an ED when you did?
People probably just figured it out on their own, I suppose. Though eating disorders aren't things people talk about. They're seen, but never really spoken about.

12. Any advice to me a recovering ED person?
You can kick your eating disorders ass and show them who's got the control. Which is you, not your eating disorder. Thin isn't as beautiful as people like to believe.
