Am I developing a disorder? - July 19th 2011, 06:02 PM

I've NEVER been the sort of person to care about what I look like. But lately, I tried on a dress and it was age 16. I'm 13 and it's too small, mum said I needed to lose weight so I started off running. Then I started running and doing 10 push ups a day at least. Now I run, do 30 push ups and 225 sit ups a day, even if it feels painful, I feel proud of it because it's a sign that I'm losing weight, I do these excercises where my parents can't see them. I also find myself subconsiously eating less and less each day and whenever I eat a big meal, I force myself to do more excercise.

Am I developing an eating disorder?

Taking control of your health by exercising is completely okay. Working out and toning up is okay. You can work out as much as you want, as long as it's paired with enough water and nutrients. Those with eating disorders fear food, and have limits and restriction on what they can and can't eat. It's very strict and very time/thought consuming.if you're losing weight, then that's excellent. It's okay to be happy about that. Just because you're losing weight, exercising, eating less and happy about it does not mean you have an eating disorder. I highly reccomend that you eat a fair amount in relation to the amount you exercise. That's the quickest and healthiest way to lost weight.

If your mom is so worried about you losing weight, then ask her to take you to a doctor and get you a nutritionist. A nutritionist will create a diet and exercise plan in accordance to your weight, height, age, muscle mass, and BMI. They will also set up a plan that you're comfortable with as well. I think this would benefit you greatly and help your health a lot. You're 13, it's good to take charge of your health now, and do it the healthy way.

Take care!

For a little touch of heavenly light
But all the choirs in my head say, no oh oh
