Question Giving Thanks? - November 24th 2011, 03:35 PM

Today is Thanksgiving, my least favourite day of the year. This year, my dad is cooking, and he makes me eat a small amount of everything. I don't currently have an ED, in fact, I am recovering from one, but I am worried that I may relapse into bulemia if I have to eat today. I have begun keeping a food diary and watching how much I eat, and my chosen calorie intake is probably a lot lower than it should be. I am worried, what should I do? I don't really want to relapse but I'm worried I won't be able to stop myself....

Try to enjoy the food. It is good that your dad is trying to get you to eat. Everybody has this feeling in honesty, I feel the same way, im really scared since i have to go to two thanksgiving dinners. I just say try to enjoy it and think positive. Stay Strong!

Hey there,
Just eat as much as you feel comfortable eating. Take small portions of everything and allow yourself to enjoy it. Be thankful that you have a dad that cares about you enough to help you recover. Remind yourself that you are beautiful, and try to stay positive throughout the day. Stay strong!
Take care,
Sammi.

I had to do the same thing and I pretty much pigged out and was so worried. Just forget about weight gain for one day and enjoy yourself. I know its hard I was stressing out big time but I didnt put on any weight. Its actually good to overeat occasionally because it speads up your metabolism, trust me I would know.
Stay strong
