too depressed to eat? -

I am not sure if I really have an eating disorder but lately I am just really depressed and I shut myself in my room all the time and I don't come out for dinner I also don't eat breakfast and I hardly eat much of anything throughout the day. It's not that I am trying to starve myself because I am skinny and I know it. I just never really feel hungry like at all and i look at food and just don't feel like eating it. I was already pretty light and in the last month have dropped a considerable amount of weight. Not sure if I am getting unhealthy or not nobody has said anything to me about it yet though.

I had this problem when I went through depression.
It can be a serious problem. Not providing an energy source to your body can stuff around with the way your body functions and with hormones. You need to talk to someone about this immediately. |

From the sounds of it, you don't have an Eating Disorder. One of the main parts to an ED, is intention. If your intention was to lose weight unhealthily, then I would say you have a problem on that front. Though, I am not a doctor. So I'm not diagnosing you.
We all react to depression differently. For some, they're always hungry, and eat all the time. For some, they don't have an appetite, and just the thought of eating makes them sick. Some peoples' appetites never even change! It's just one more way of coping with depression, sub conscious or not. An obvious fix to this problem would be to go to a doctor. You don't even need to say that you're depressed. Just say you lack appetite, and you're not trying to starve yourself. Though, it might be more effective to tell him you're depressed, so he can take the right steps towards getting you better. I think it's important to surround yourself with people who care about you, and you trust. Being alone through depression will be make it seem twelve times worse. Can you talk to your parents about this? They can help you get the help that you need, and get you happy again. What about a teacher or a guidance counselor at school? I know it takes a lot to open up to people, but it could really help. You can't live like this forever you know? But in order for it to work, you have to be willing to get the help. If you don't want help, or want to make the effort, you won't get better. Plain and simple. But in the mean time, try to fill yourself with nutritious foods that can keep your energy up, and keep you healthy. Try eating things that are easy on the stomach. Like salad, veggies, soup, etc. And also take vitamins. That will help. But it's only a temporary fix. Seek help.
