Im scared - April 8th 2012, 07:58 PM

I've been counting calories and making sure I dont go over [EDITED]. I've been trying to go for a jog when I can to burn the calories. Is this a good healthy diet? I dont want to go back to my old habits again. I just ate a Easter dinner, and attempted to purge, but I didn't. I'm scared that I'll go back to my eating disorder. What do I do?

Personally I don't think diets are ever healthy. Making rules for your caloric intake isn't going to suffice forever, and honestly, youre just setting yourself up for disappointment. True change comes from inside. To be successful long term, you have to want to be healthy, not just thin. And you have to want to be healthy for you and have realistic goals. I think the best advice ever given to me was that 'until you learn to love yourself as a soul, you will always sabotage your happiness.'

Goals are really good, but they should be goals like 'Today i will run x distance because i will feel better after doing so' instead of 'because I ate too much today'. Don't punish yourself, don't scold yourself, just accept that you aren't going to be perfect every single day and forgive. Do better the next day.

'back to old habits again'? sounds like a relapse, do you have any support from when you last had ED behaviours that you can refer to. Sometimes the relapses can end up being worse than the original or even mean the death of you You need to get some help from anyone before you go back and do it again.
