Natural Allergy Relief - July 10th 2012, 09:27 PM

Hereís a natural allergy relief well-kept secret! Most people can get rid of allergies naturally with just a few simple dietary changes.

But of course you can also resort to a wide variety of expensive pharmaceuticals.

However, many sufferers report these antihistamines, corticosteroids, bronchodilators, decongestants and other allergy drugs donít really work. Plus, like all drugs, they come with a list of unwanted side-effects.

So, hereís how to get rid of allergies naturally, once and for all!

10 Steps for How to Get Rid of Allergies Ė Naturally

As a substitute for allergy drugs, what if you were to take in more healthy vegetables, fresh fruit and omega 3 fish and swear off junk food?

Long-term allergy relief can be as simple as following these 10 steps:

1. Choose super healthy food. The link between diet and all types of allergies is much stronger than most people realize. A great diet that includes eating healthy foods, and only healthy foods, helps keep your immune system and respiratory system functioning optimally.

2. Maintain a low-calorie diet. The latest research shows that a low-calorie diet greatly enhances your bodyís immune response - including balancing the hypersensitivity which causes allergies. Other studies show, if youíre overweight, weight loss provides natural allergy relief.

3. Include healthy probiotics. Living organisms in probiotic foods, like yogurt, help prevent and protect you from allergies by boosting the friendly bacteria in your intestines that help regulate your immune system.

4. Add natural digestive aids. Poor protein digestion compromises your immune system and is common among anyone with any type of allergy. So itís vitally important to include digestive enzymes with every meal.
  • Bromelain, from pineapple, digests protein and reduces inflammation.
  • Papain, from papaya, is also very effective for digesting protein.
  • Amylase helps breakdown starches and carbohydrates.
  • Lactase aids in the digestion of dairy products.
  • Lipase is best for digesting fats.
5. Increase omega-3 fish oils. Fish oil helps to reduce the inflammation involved in allergic reactions. And studies show people who get plenty of omega-3 fatty acids from cold-water fish like salmon, herring, sardines and albacore tuna are less likely to suffer from allergy symptoms.

6. Follow a low-sodium plan. Low-salt diets have been shown to improve lung function and reduce allergy symptoms and the need for medication.

7. Spice up your daily menus. Although some spicy foods can trigger a release of allergy-related histamine, horseradish and Cajun spice act as nasal decongestants and garlic helps make mucus less sticky.

8. Look to the Mediterranean. Due to healthy foods like olive oil, omega-3 fish and lots of immune-boosting fresh fruits and vegetables, nasal allergies are practically non-existent on the Mediterranean diet.

9. Take natural supplements. To get rid of allergies, make sure you include a multiple, plus extras of these allergy fighting supplements:
  • Vitamin A, from a natural fish liver source, is vitally important.
  • Vitamin C, not only enhances your immune function, but it can also dramatically reduce levels of histamine in the blood.
  • Flavonoids, especially quercetin, can lower histamine levels too. Itís best to take vitamin C and flavonoid complex together.
  • Vitamin D plays an essential role in both immune system defense and in protecting your digestive tract from food allergens.
  • Minerals found to be particularly helpful are selenium and zinc.
10. Have a morning cup of tea. Warm green tea works as a natural antihistamine, opens sinuses and reduces allergy symptoms.

And now that you know how to get rid of allergies naturally, whatís next?

Thanks Kelly! I'll be sure to try all of the above; really tired of being drowsy from antihistamines and non-drowsy doesn't work as well!
