Scared to go to the toilet - August 23rd 2012, 05:01 PM

This might sound really weird, but I really panic when I feel like I'm gonna have looser poo/diarrhoea. Like I can't go for a poo without my mum there iff I'm ill i just panic

Firstly, if you're having regular diarrhea you should visit your doctor.

Secondly, if it's only when other people are around then it could just be embarrassment. Not many people like doing a poo when other people are nearby.

If it's all the time, then it's something you'll need to work on, because going to the toilet is something that we all need to do. If you don't go when you need to you can end up with really bad stomach pains.

This might sound weird, but try taking a magazine when you go to the loo. A lot of people do it to pass the time, but it might work as a distraction to calm you down.

Take care.

Hi there,

First off all i'm really sorry you're going through this at the moment, it must be hard.
I think it's great that your mom make you feel more comfortable, have you been ill in the past that has caused you to feel like this? Perhaps you can talk to your mom about it and that way she can support you.
As Hester said perhaps take a magazine with you or a book or something to distract yourself and make you more relaxed.
If you do keep getting looser poo I would suggest speaking to your doctor and they can help you with that. If you avoid going to the loo is can make you ill nad give you stomach pains, it's something that we all have to do.

Feel free to PM me if you ever want/need to talk
I hope this helps a bit,
Take care,
