breast reduction - September 12th 2012, 11:55 AM

I'm thinking about getting a breast reduction because mine are too big. I get backache all the time, I can't sit up straight because it hurts and I can't stand up for long. To give you some sort of idea, I'm the top end of normal weight on a bmi scale and my breasts are an H cup, although I think they've grown since I last got measured. I'm also really self conscious about them, I won't wear low cut or fitted tops. I live in baggy hoodies because I hate the way they look. I have even cut myself on my breasts before because I hate them so much. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had or is thinking about a breast reduction? Also, do you think I have any chance of getting this done on the nhs? I know that they sometimes will do it if it's causing physical/mental problems, but I don't know if mine are bad enough. I'm going to go to the doctor to speak about it and see if they can refer me, but I just want a bit of input from you guys first

Edit: I also forgot to put that I haven't been swimming in several years because I'm so embarrassed about my boobs

Hey Ella,

It sounds like your breasts are causing you a lot of trouble so I think that it's really good that you're going to speak to your doctor. If you weren't already that's definitely something that I'd suggest! A friend of my mums had a breast reduction - I'm not sure whether it was done on the NHS or not, but I know that she felt so much happier and better about herself for getting it done. It's not just about the way you look on the outside but how you feel inside and physically and it's definitely worth speaking to someone so that you don't have to live a restricted life because of how you feel.
