How do you control oily skin? - September 18th 2012, 04:44 AM

If this isn't in the right place please move it.

I have really oily skin and I'm getting really tired of it. How do you control oily skin that doesn't cost very much?

I always use makeup wipes to cleanse the pores and to get rid of the oil residue on my face. They cost maybe 3 dollars.

Jay.

I have the same problem! I just use a bar of soap. And then I use a wet foundation. I got a translucent power bye NYC at walmart, it was only 2.75 little blot your face with it and the cover it with a shade darker power. It works for me and depending on the weather, I carry the NYC power in my bag b/c its smallness and flat and blot my face near the end of the day when I'm out.Jusst depending on the weather though but I hope It worked !

I've heard soap causes a reaction which causes pimples :/ lol, but I only heard that from my friends mum.

Jay.

I use what I call 'tea tree oil', but it really is just eucalyptus oil. I have to be careful though, it is very strong and quite drying.

I just wash my face regularly with a face wash (Thats a lie. I can't be bothered to keep washing my face no matter how oily my face gets which is VERY oily. But when I do, it works.) or wipe it with a handkerchief. I always have a handkerchief on me and it works well for lazy people like me.

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water. As a general rule, your skin produces more oils when it's dehydrated.
Also, after you wash your face, make sure to put an oil-free moisturizer on. That way, your body won't produce the natural oils too quickly. Carry some oil-removing wipes to remove excess oil during the day.

First, don't wash your face with bar soap, or regular hand soap. General soap like that can be VERY hard on your skin, and can often cause more pimples. Yes, bar soap will dry your face out, but continual use will dry out your face so bad that your skin will become so dry it hurts. You have to remember that the skin on your face is far more delicate. Like Emily said- drink plenty of water. Also, diet can really effect your skin as well. If you eat a lot of junk food, then your skin will tend to be more oily. Simply eating fruits and vegies can make a world of difference. That will help.

The next step is washing your face daily. But to do that you need a face wash. Go to your local drug store and start looking at the different face washes. You want one that is geared towards more oily skin. Neutrogena has an oil free acne wash that I'm sure works good. Try looking for the face washes that are oil free. It might take a few different products to find the one that works best, though.
