Hey Nicole. I dont suffer from chronic pain myself but if its constant and it bothers you to the point where you feel like you have to puke, I seriously recommend you talk to your parents/doctor to maybe have something prescribed to help it.

I know acupuncture is supposed to really help. My mom has horrible chronic back pain and although it didn't get rid of the pain for her it did help lessen the pain. Yoga is also very good. There are special exercise balls you can get that help quite a bit too. The way you use them would be different depending on your area of pain, but I think the guidebook usually comes with the ball.

And the last thing, if you're not on medication already you should talk to your doctor about getting on it. If your medication isn't sufficient you might want to either tell your current doctor or get a second doctor's opinion. My mom's stupid doctor was giving her hardly any meds for the longest time and didn't tell her about the other medication options, but she didn't know until after she started talking to other chronic pain sufferers. Finally she was able to get some different medication which helped her quite a bit.

I suffer from chronic back and knee pain. I don't really do anything to combat it though. I take Ibuprofen whenever the pain is really horrible and hot showers help. I wear a knee brace when that pain gets really bad, too; or if I'm going to be doing a lot of walking and I know that it will hurt worse. I've had knee and back pain for so long I just sort of.. live with it. Of course, my choice of jobs doesn't really help, either.

Re: pain...so much - April 17th 2009, 01:19 PM

i had very severe much pain in my leg for about 4 months. so much so at times where i would pass out because i was in so much pain. turned out i had bone cancer, but thats another story.

pain management..

i would use hot water bottles, then hot and ice packs.. alternating. i had this massager thing that i would use. i tried just about every pain killer going. although be careful, because i OD'd on painkillers without realising and got very ill.

go back to your doctor and insist that they put you on stronger painkillers to manage your pain. the only thing that touched the pain i was in was slow release morphine tablets, and even they didn't work terribly well. don't just suffer, tell your doctor.

I get bad pain in my muscles and veins a lot. To manage it, well I usually use hot water or ice, sometimes Ibuprofen . My mum uses heating pads and IcyHot patches to help with her pain.

As said, go back to your doctor, and talk to them. Get a higher dosage if need be.
