I'm so scared. - January 14th 2013, 04:37 AM

I am terrified right now. I have to go to the doctor tomorrow to find out what's wrong with my jaw. It's been popping when I eat for about a year now. That's been annoying but not too bad. But now it's locked in one spot and I can't eat very well. It's soooooooo annoying. My sister said she's worried they may have to break my jaw to fix it. I'm terrified. What if I have to? I have softball coming up soon.. I'm so scared. What do I do?

Hey Ciara, They WILL NOT have to break your jaw, it sounds like a problem with your jaw joint which can be easily treated depending on the severity, so you can relax.

Yeah, but I'm worried. I still may have to sit out. It's my senior year I don't want to..

I doubt it will affect that, but you can always ask. It's still better to get it taken care of now and I don't think you'd be out for the whole season either.

They said that if it's a malformity I have to have jaw surgery and have it wired shut. If it's ligament damage I have to wear a brace. If I have to have surgery have to be out 5-6 weeks and maybe more because it's a contact sport. If I just have to have a brace well, they're hoping that will just be for while I sleep.
