Question Fatigue......... - February 19th 2013, 10:15 PM

HEY GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Name's Hamed . Okay, so I have been training for over a year now and I took a MASSIVE amount of time off for the HSC exams............... it has driven me up the friggin' wall, not being able to be where I was, I used to be able to go INSANE and now I can't do 200 metres . That's the cause of my lack of fitness, but I also have another issue........... the fatigue and lack of energy.

I walk to the gym, takes me thirty minutes, and I am doing cardio now, to get my fat down............. it hasn't been working, I even went to HelpLink for help. (Duh ). It hasn't been working because I shut down very early during my workouts........... yesterday I found the cause!

I got a lift to the gym and did the best damned training session in so long! I biked a half marathon . So this lack of energy and shutting down happens BECAUSE I have to walk to the gym for half an hour but that's 99% of the time............. the problem happens 99% of the time!!! . How do I prevent fatigue if I HAVE to walk to the gym, how do I get energy back, what can I do during the warm-up or beforehand, apparently sports drinks are bad for you, so that's out of the question . Right? .

H!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .

And what might seem to be a series of unfortunate events may in fact be the first steps of a journey.”

Make sure your body has appropriate stores of carbs and proteins for your workout.

So, either take a snack with you (a banana and a chocolate milk is a pro snack), or have something before you leave.

Not something big, because you don't want to kill your workout. Just something that's going to boost your energy levels whilst you work out and provide some protein to help build that muscle

There's a few fitness/bodybuilding forums around with good advice, but coming from a gymnastics background, we encouraged bananas and flavoured milk as a snack. You can get low-sugar flavoured milk, and bananas are a good source of healthy carbs. Also the GI of these two things isn't ridiculously high, so you won't peak in 20 minutes then suddenly fail.

If you can afford it, you might want to consider seeing a nutritionist, or talking to a personal trainer about sports nutrition.
